Sponsors wishing to participate in the Children of War Rescue Project should:
- arrange to meet with the Chief Executive Officer or Senior Administrator of the local medical center(s) to determine his or her interest in providing pro bono medical, surgical, and/or rehabilitative care for a war-wounded child. If there is interest, the institution's offer to participate must be made in writing, and
- send a letter of intent with a copy of the medical institution's offer to the Executive Director of the Children of War Rescue Project.
Medical Center officials will be responsible for providing in-hospital space when required, all necessary medical/pharmaceutical supplies, and for identifying the necessary medical, surgical and rehabilitative staff members who will participate on a pro bono basis.
Sponsors and medical center officials, meeting jointly, will determine if and when a local press conference should be held.
Sponsors will be responsible for identifying a local host* and individuals who will make up the local support network*.
It is extremely important for sponsors to advise participants, including medical center personnel, that all arrangements being made are strictly tentative depending entirely on need and the ability of United Nations agencies, committees and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) to safely evacuate wounded children from combat zones or other hostile environments.
